Return to Massachusetts

Note: This post may or may not be inspired by Brandon's post about The Blogenning over at Extant Musings. Because when life gets busy, posting here falls by the wayside. Let's see if I can correct that...

Quite a few trips in the past few months: two to Portland, Oregon, one to my birthplace of Panama, the usual Fourth of July trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, followed by a quick trip to Miami, Florida, and mostly recently, a ten day trip to Boston. Let's start there.

Ten days ago, I was getting ready to fly back to Atlanta from my erstwhile Bostonian stomping grounds. I spent ten days there, including a work-week of meetings, which went well, but I also packed every night with social outings so I could maximize the amount of time I could spend with friends I hadn't seen in almost a year.

It was a good 10 days: I went to two beaches (or three, depending on how you want to count the rocks of Halibut Point State Park), Rockport and Duxbury, played in both my former D&D campaigns, played in a new Call of Cthulhu campaign, saw my NaNoWriMo pals, the DSI, went to Chunky's in Nashua and played Settlers of Catan afterward, and even had a small welcome-back gathering. I had lunch with friends when I could; really, anywhere I could fit in my friends when I wasn't working, I tried to manage it.

In Rockport, I briefly met up with Neil Schelly while he was driving a Lamborghini Gallardo, which he very kindly let me switch on and rev (wheee!). Proof:

I love the Lamborghini's engine

Copy-catting Tom, I went to the Chihuly exhibit. I took lots of pictures, and I challenged myself to take them all without flash, per the museum's request (which it seemed was universally ignored), which means that most of my pictures were not that great (must get better lens than the kit lens that came with my camera [also must learn to take pictures]). The ones that survived the cull are in the Cthulhu section of my photo gallery.
